Order Alerts

InsightCS® Order Management features both predefined  and user-defined order alerts.  Users have the option of setting each alert they use as a warning or a disallow.

A warning alert allows the user to continue with the order.  If the user over rides the warning alert the system logs the user’s name and date/time the alert was  overridden.  A disallow alert does not allow the user to place the order.   Each alert can have a custom message associated to it to help the user know what to do in case the alert displays.   Listed below are the current available alert types and an example of each.

ALLERGY ALERT:  Every item in the order table can have allergies attached to it.

Example:  IVP with Iodine attached.  If the user orders an IVP for a patient with an iodine allergy, the system alerts the user that the patient has an iodine allergy.

DUPLICATE ALERT:
System conducts a duplicate check for all orders being placed across all visits.

Example:  When a user places an order for an H & H the system checks the patient’s order profile to see if an H & H has been done.  This check alerts the user if an H & H has already been ordered.

CONFLICT ALERT:
The system conducts a conflict check between tests within the orders table.

Example:  If the user places an order for an Upper GI for the morning, then orders an Abdominal CT for the afternoon of the same day, the system gives them a conflict between a barium test and a CT test within 24 hours.

GENDER ALERT:
The system alerts the user if an item or test should not be ordered for male or female.

Example: Pregnancy test cannot be ordered for a male and a prostate exam cannot be ordered for a female.

DIABETIC ALERT:  The system alerts the user if an order being placed is contra-indicated for a diabetic patient.

Example:  If the user places an order for a regular diet for a diabetic patient, an alert is issued.

PREGNANCY ALERT:  The system alerts the user if an order being placed is contra-indicated for a pregnant woman.

Example:  If the user places an order for a radiological exam for a pregnant patient, an alert is issued.
